Introduction :

Hindusthan Heavy Electricaals was established in 1980 for manufacturing Power and Distribution Transformers. Hindusthan Heavy Electricaals (HHE), a blue chip company of the multi-million Coimbatore based Hindusthan Group, a name very familiar in power sector with its Hindusthan Brand Transformers.

Two decades of rich experience in the transformer industry combined with the state of art technology and most advanced machineries has propelled Hindusthan Transformers into being selected by the TNEB, which itself speaks for its quality. At Hindusthan, the extra care to use imported raw materials an in house manufacturing process, helps to maintain utmost quality.

Though HHE offers a 18 months guarantee period, its transformers are built to provide a lifetime of trouble free performance. Hindusthan Transformers conform to ISS (Indian Standard Specification) and is on the verge of securing ISO 9002 certificate. Hindusthan also has the needed infrastructure to manufacture transformers for the global market conforming to BSS and international specifications. HHE and its associate concerns account for the supply of nearly 2000 transformers annually to TNEB. Since then, HHE has grown its high quality and reliable products and services. Visualizing the future electronic in board field, HHE ventured in Electronics product groups to have multi products.

VIVIN GROUP, one of the pioneer manufacturer, MV & HV switchboards, Bus ducts etc. for system up to 33 KV including special panels for over 4 decades with switch boards over 250 millions already in use, approved by leading consultants like MEKON, AVANT GARDE M.N.DASTUR etc., having exclusive Electrical Inspectrate Licence ESA have been taken over by HHE during 1998.

HHE has a corporate office functionally at Coimbatore city with a view to give better services by way or easy access and communication to customers, vendors. In addition to this, HHE has office at Chennai, Palakkad and Pondicherry. The representatives are placed at important cities within India for better interaction with customers.

Products:

The company is one of the top leading suppliers to TNEB for various rating of Distribution Transformers from 63 KVA to 500 KVA in 11 KV & 22 KV class. Besides above the company has a capacity to manufacture up to 5000 KVA in all 11,22 & 33 KV class. The company is also manufacturing Industrial, Arc Furnace transformers, Potential Transformers and all special Transformers as per customer’s specification. the company has also set up their group concern at Pondicherry in the Names of Standard Wire Products, Standard Power Distributors, who are manufacturing Copper / Aluminum Wires & Strips in enamel. Paper & fiber glass covering with a capacity of 100 M.Tones per month. The Materials :

CORE & OIL
The heart of the HHE Transformer is the core and coil assembly. Every 3 phase transformer contents 3 limbed stacked mitred cores and 3 progressively wound low - high coils. This employs the highest quality grade of magnetic alloy steel (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Silicon Steel) resulting in lower exciting current and reduced losses. This translated into lighter and more economical transformer. The progressively wound coils inner low voltage section, outer high voltage section wound directly on top of the each other provides a tighter, more compact assembly with greater inherent mechanical strength against short circuit forces. The coils are impregnated with high quality baking and insulating varnish under vacuum process which produces mechanically strong coils to withstand repeated short circuits. Core lamination used for the transformer is imported cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel contents of low core loss imported from Japan
origin.

Copper Aluminum wire & strip : Electrolytic grade continuous cast aluminum wire purchase from the reputed manufacturer and converted to our sizes as per the requirements.

Copper wire & strip : Electrolytic grade continuous cast aluminum wire purchase from the reputed manufacturer and converted to our sizes at our sister concern M/S Standard Wire Products & M/S Standard Power Distributors at Pondicherry.

Production & Quality Control
As soon as the raw materials are received it is thoroughly check measured the quality & quantity checks. After that only the materials will be sent to the relevant section for the production activity. After that wire/strips converted into coils it has been transferred to Assembly section. The HV/LV connection will be made according to the Vector group. The assembled job will be put into Hot air chamber for removing the moisture and improving the insulation resistance for a duration of 36 hours at 85 degree Centigrade temperature and the assembled job will be put into M.S tank and the oil will also poured up to the minimum level. After completing all the work, transformer will be conducted all the routine and type test according to the relevant I.S specification.

Testing :
HHE transformers are tested by CPRI for its Dynamic ability short circuit & impulse voltage test.

The following tests are conducted in all the transformers:
1. Insulation Resistance test
2. Oil Sample Test(BDV)
3. Turns Ratio Test
4. H.V Winding Resistance
5. L.V Winding Resistance
6. Load loss & Impedance Measurement Test
7. No load loss & Magnetizing current measurement test
8. Induce over voltage test double voltage, Double Frequency
9. High voltage test both HV & LV
10. Calculation Efficiency in Both UPF & 0.8 PF lag.
