Research Centre Activities

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is recognized as a research centre by Anna University, Chennai since 2007. At present, ten faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D research work with Anna University, Chennai and six faculty members have completed their Ph.D degree under this research centre. There are fourteen Ph.D research scholars are working for their degree in the various specializations of Mechanical Engineering. The department has supervisors in the following specializations:

  1. Welding Engineering
  2. Industrial Tribology
  3. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  4. Renewable Energy
  5. Computational Fluid Dynamics
  6. Alternative Fuels
  7. Composite Materials
  8. Quality Engineering

The department has also organized an International Conference in the title of Advances in Materials and Manufacturing for the researchers benefit. The department has received a research grant of 10.5 lakhs from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi for the project titled “Study and Performance Improvement of a solar air heater”. The department has also submitted research proposal for seeking funding from Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Universities Grant Commission (UGC).
