B.E. Automobile Engineering

About the Course

Automobile Engineering (AE) is one of the core engineering departments of HICET. The Department offers a 4 Year B.E Programme affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. This programme deals with the study of various Engines and their construction, Functions, Materials, Electrical Systems, Maintenance, Alternate Fuels, Economics, Safety and Quality of an automobile. Students are exposed to problem – based learning, case studies, computer simulation, group discussion, brain storming, seminars, workshops, industrial training and projects for a better learning experience. By successfully completing the programme, graduates are placed in products and services related to automotive industry, software solutions, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) like Daimler India Commercial Vehicle, Mercedes – Benz, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti, Honda, Yamaha and TVS two wheelers etc.

Infrastructure

Automobile Engineering Laboratory is concerned with the Life Cycle supports from Design, Manufacture, Assembly, Performance and Durability Testing of on road and off road vehicles like Car, Vans, Bus, Heavy truck and Race Cars. A key challenge for Automobile Engineers today is to design and manufacture of sustainable vehicles that meet ever-increasing safety and performance standards in a cost-effective way. In order to do this, the laboratory experiments are embrace a wide range of Basic, Fundamental and Advance level to make the student specialist in engineering skills. The laboratory has estranged into Automotive Components Lab, Fuels and Lubricants Lab, Engine and Chassis Design Centre, Performance and Testing Lab, Electrical and Electronics Wiring Lab, Vehicle Maintenance Lab, Fluid Mechanical Lab, Strength of Materials Lab and Manufacturing Lab etc., is equipped with appropriate equipments, modern instruments and diagnostics systems.
