B.Tech Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering is a discipline influencing numerous areas of  technology. In broad terms Chemical Engineers conceive and design  processes to produce ,transform and transport materials – beginning with experimentation in laboratory followed by implementation  of the technology in full scale production. It’s hardly surprising then that chemical engineers are known as ‘universal engineers’. Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and math to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and many other products. They design processes and equipment for large-scale manufacturing.Chemical engineers work mostly in offices or laboratories.

Chemical Engineers are in good demand because of the large number of industries that depend on the synthesis and process chemicals and materials. In addition to traditional careers in chemical, energy and oil industries, chemical engineers enjoy increasing opportunities in bio technology, pharmaceuticals, electronic device fabrication and environmental engineering. In bio technology chemical engineers help design production facilities use microorganisms, enzymes to synthesize new drugs.

Chemical engineers design, create and optimise the systems and equipment used in chemical, industrial, biological and environmental processes. They produce a range of materials, from fuels, fertilizers, sugar, paper to processed foods, polymers and pharmaceuticals.

Job Outlook

Employment of chemical engineers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations.
