ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Food Technology is known as the emerging field due to its importance in everyday life. Thr remarkable society needs qualified and trained personnel in the fields of food processing operations, analysis, handling, packaging, storage, and licensing. In accordance to that, the Department of Food Technology was introduced in the academic year 2018-19 which offers a UG programme (B.Tech) in Food Technology.

The students will be able to handle with both theoretical and practical knowledge as Food Technology professionals in the areas of Food Microbiology, Food Chemistry, Food Analysis, Fruit & Vegetable processing, Food Biotechnology, Diary Engineering, Food Process Engineering, Packaging Technology, Baking & Confectionary Technology, Plantation & Spices Product Technology, Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals and Food Laws & standards. Also the students will expertise in design and fabrication of food processing machinery and operation of widely used equipment in all food industries. Industrial exposure is provided through visits, projects and short-term training programmes in the industrial premises.
