The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a volunteer organization dedicated to involving young people in various social activities, enabling them to learn about the ground realities of society and contribute to the common good. The primary objective of NSS is to develop a sense of social responsibility among students, fostering a spirit of service and selflessness.<\/p>\n

Our Health Science NSS unit operates under the core motto: “Not for Me, But for My Society.” This guiding principle encourages students to put the welfare of society above personal interests, driving them to participate in a range of activities aimed at improving community health, education, and general well-being.<\/p>

The NSS Officer plays a crucial role in guiding and motivating students to actively participate in these initiatives. Following the guidelines of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, the officer ensures that students receive proper training and are equipped to address societal challenges effectively. The officer also encourages students to:<\/span>

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is an initiative guided by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University to educate and empower the younger generation on two critical areas: the prevention of HIV\/AIDS and the promotion of voluntary blood donation. The club aims to foster a sense of social responsibility among students while equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to create lasting change in their communities.<\/p>\n

The primary mission of the RRC is to educate students about the modes of transmission, prevention methods, and the importance of early diagnosis of HIV\/AIDS. By providing accurate information, the club helps reduce stigma and promotes safe practices among youth.<\/p>\n

RRC actively promotes voluntary blood donation among students, encouraging them to donate blood regularly and save lives. The club organizes blood donation camps and collaborates with local hospitals and blood banks to ensure a steady supply of safe blood for medical emergencies.<\/p>

The club extends its efforts beyond the institution, encouraging students to share their knowledge with the broader public.
