The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Hindusthan College of Nursing plays a pivotal role in instilling a sense of social responsibility and community service among students. Since its establishment in 2019, the NSS unit has actively engaged over 200 nursing students in various programs that address significant health and social issues. By participating in these activities, students not only contribute to the well-being of the community but also gain practical exposure to the healthcare needs of different populations. This hands-on involvement helps shape them into compassionate healthcare professionals with a deep understanding of the importance of public health and community welfare.
The NSS unit’s efforts are closely aligned with the core objectives of the National Service Scheme, which emphasizes service to society while fostering personal growth among students. The unit has consistently organized impactful events such as blood donation drives, health camps, and free eye check-ups, benefiting those in need. Special initiatives, including pulse polio immunization and health screenings for women in garment factories, have addressed pressing health concerns within the community. Additionally, awareness programs such as breastfeeding education and fire safety drills demonstrate the unit’s dedication to promoting safety and health education. These activities ensure that students develop leadership, empathy, and a strong commitment to making a positive difference in society.
