ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2007. The department offers BE programme and ME programme (VLSI Design) with a vision to produce globally competent professionals. The department has 6 spacious and well-equipped state of art laboratories andclassrooms. The department has highly qualified and rich experienced faculty members coupled with young talents and supporting staff.The Department got its Research Centre Recognition from Centre for Research Anna University Chennai. The department has secured 11 university ranks and One Gold medal from the year of establishment.The department has received financial supportfrom leading organization like DRDO, UGC, IEI, TNSCST etc., for carrying out research projects. The department has established a centre of Excellence in the field of Embedded Systems in association with Siemens and Genn Automation.

Infrastructure

Digital Electronics & LIC Lab

This lab is established with a total investment of Rs. 10 Lakhs .It is a basic lab meeting the curriculum requirement of ECE, EIE, CSE, IT, Aeronautics and Mechanical Engineering U.G. courses. Students perform the basic experiments with digital electronic circuitry & Integrated circuits and innovative projects are carried out utilizing this laboratory.

DSP & VLSI Lab

This lab is established with a total investment of about Rs. 1 crore. This lab has TMS320, C50 and ADSP 2181 based E2 kits for doing DSP experiments. It has front end tools such as Xilinx, Quartus Plus and Back end tools such as Micro wind, Tanner pro, Cadence and hardware such as Spartan II, Spartan III, Vertex Series of FPGAs for doing VLSI experiments. It is also equipped with CPLD kit for doing embedded experiments.

Microwave & Optical Communication Lab

This lab is equipped with Rs 35 Lakhs of with latest equipment such as OTDR & MIC Antenna training system.

Microprocessor & Networks Lab

This lab is established with a total investment of Rs 20 Lakhs. It is equipped with 8051 Microcontrollers, 8086 ,8085 Microprocessor kits , PIC ,ARM 7 and 100 interfacing boards to do all Microprocessor experiments as per curriculum and also equipped with LAN trainer kits, DCT kits and PDLA Software for doing networks experiments. The lab is equipped with Qualnet software. This lab is also used for project work by the students.

Electrical & Control Systems Lab

This lab is established with a total investment of Rs 25 Lakhs. It is equipped with all types of AC & DC motors and Generators for doing Electrical experiments. It is also equipped with MATLAB Software for doing Control system experiments.

Circuits & Simulation Lab

The Circuits lab is the basic lab in which characteristics of Electron devices such as diode, transistor, FET etc are studied. The students of circuit branches are utilizing this lab. The Simulation lab is used for doing simulation experiments and the project works.

Embedded Systems Lab

This lab is established with a total investment of Rs 20 Lakhs. It is equipped with Latest real time embedded equipment’s. It is also equipped with Keil C ,MP Lab Proteus software for the simulation outputs. This lab is established for PG students to get research knowledge in various aspects like Embedded systems and VLSI Design. Embedded labs have the equipment’s to do the final year projects in the college premise.
