Anti Ragging
In strict adherence to the directives of the Honourable Supreme Court, UGC, and the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Anti-Ragging Committee of the college is constituted for the academic year 2019-2020. The committee is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
For the Academic Year 2023-2024, the Anti-Ragging Committee members are designated to receive and address complaints related to ragging. They are empowered to take the necessary actions to prevent and eliminate any instances of ragging, thereby maintaining the integrity and safety of the college community.
The committee regularly conducts inspections and surveillance across campus, particularly in hostel areas, to deter any potential incidents. In collaboration with local authorities, strict disciplinary actions are taken in compliance with legal mandates, ensuring that any violation is dealt with swiftly. The committee also fosters a culture of inclusivity, promoting mutual respect among students, and offers special guidance and mentoring for first-year students to make their transition to college life smooth and safe. Through these measures, the Anti-Ragging Committee upholds the integrity and safety of the college community, ensuring a zero-tolerance approach toward ragging.
Objectives
- The committee will decide and finalize Anti Ragging Regulations for the institution, in accordance with the prevailing regulations of various statutory bodies.
- To conduct Anti Ragging Committee meeting every month, or in case of any complaint registered as and when basis.
- To ensure submission of undertaking in the prescribed format from the candidate concerned on anti-ragging at the time of admission.
- To arrange to send letters to parents, and guardians of the students at the beginning of the academic year for the creation of awareness.
- To suggest measures to tighten vigil against any act which constitutes ragging? Measures for prevention of ragging so that fresher’s, senior students, and every members of the institute are made aware of the measures.
- Measures for prohibition of ragging to eliminate the scourge of ragging as per the definition given in the relevant regulations, including the formation of the Anti-Ragging Squad, Mentoring Cell on ragging etc.
- Timely circulation of action taken report to the concerned authorities against Anti-Ragging in the institute.
Functions
- Disseminating information on the consequences of ragging through orientation and awareness programs.
- Forming and deploying an anti-ragging squad to regularly monitor the campus, hostels, and neighborhood.
- Implementing pre-emptive measures to prevent ragging incidents from occurring.
- Investigating complaints related to ragging promptly and impartially.
- Taking appropriate disciplinary actions against individuals found guilty of ragging, which may include expulsion, suspension, or legal action.
- Publicizing the contact information of the committee members for easy reporting of incidents.
- Periodically reviewing and updating the anti-ragging policy to ensure its effectiveness
- Promoting the formation of peer support groups among students to foster a culture of mutual respect and assistance, helping to deter ragging behavior through positive peer influence.
- Establishing partnerships with local law enforcement and community organizations to ensure a coordinated response to any incidents of ragging.
