Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology

Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology is an allied health professional Course. The aspirants will be trained for 3 years with One year internship in the areas of management of Operation Theatre, disinfection, sterilization, responsibilities in anaesthesia and maintaining all the instruments used in the operation Theatre before and after procedures. At the end of the course the students will be able to choose the right anaesthetic medications, anesthetic gases, relevant surgical instruments, and sterilization necessities during surgery. The knowledge gained by the students helps them in choosing the right anaesthetic treatment for a patient and its dosage with medical ethics principles.

This course is a creative amalgamation of skilled labour with intuitive interpersonal skills in the healthcare sector. A wider scope of Operation Theatre Technology is quite prominent in transplant teams, orthopedic clinics, gynecology sections, cancer units, surgery, special care baby units. They are also hired for research, education and training. Some of the professionals are privately hired by doctors, surgeons, physicians or dentists who perform surgery of the patients. Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technologist will be hired to manage all the functions in an operating theatre, during, prior and post an operation procedure and assist surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses.

Admission Process

The candidates seeking admission shall submit the prescribed application to the college along with the copies of the educational certificates and other essential documents to the college. After scrutinizing the application and documents the candidates shall be called for admission based on their merits. The candidates called for admission shall produce all their original certificates and other original documents pertaining to their qualification as prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University at the time of admission.
